Marriage is an extremely complex institution because it is a union between people who actually do not know each other. More often than not these two people meet as grown ups. They are attracted to each other for different reasons. And because of the infatuation of either of the two people in the relationship, checks are hardly ever done. Lack of checks often means that the relationship will actually be strained at some point and will break down.

When you compare couples living in villages and practice traditional healing to those living in cities and do not practice traditional customs you will see the difference. One, people who leave in cities struggle to get partners to get married to. Two, When they get married, these couples in cities have a very high divorce rate. This can be attributed to among other reasons their abadonment of ancestors and traditional ways. They therefore do not get blessings and protection in their marriages.
